5 Minute Monday - Messy Free Mascara

Hello, 5 Minute Monday. Goodbye, Messy Mascara.

5 Minute Monday
is a series of beauty hacks, looks, and tutorials to help you get ready when you are in a rush --- and yes, under 5 minutes. And yes, they work because I tried them out myself ;)

So let’s get into it! I'm in a rush but I don't want to look sloppy. The one step that I always mess up is applying mascara. I either go too fast and get mascara on my eye lids or end up poking my eyes...either way, we don't want that happening am I right? I mean, if you are gifted with dark, long lashes, you can probably skip mascara if you are running late. Unfortunately, I have stubborn short straight lashes, so I NEED some mascara.

The item that is a time saver and not to mention genius, is a lash card. A lash card is basically a stiff card that helps you apply your mascara by lifting and blocking your eyelids during the application. The results --- an even mascara application from the root of the lash to the tips without poking anyone's eyeballs, and most importantly messy free mascara eyelids. #winning

The Elizabeth Mott Lash Card is designed for this mascara hack, as the cards are cut with curves to fit your eye lids. However, you can totally DIY this. Just take any deck card or business card, apply some clear tape for easy cleaning and that's all! I don't even bother cutting a curve as it still works wonders, but if you'd like to, go nuts!

I suggest a layer of clear tape on the card for easy cleaning after each use. Highly recommend cleaning before and after you use, to avoid any bacteria build up. After all, this will be very close to your eyes, so you don't want to risk any sort of infection!

How To Use A Lash Card

1. Grab your favorite mascara, mine is the Evelyn Iona Coffee mascara. I have super watery eyes, so I need something that is waterproof but also very black!

2. Curl your lashes (if you need to).

3. Using the lash card, place on your eyelid just above your lashes and gently lift the lashes up to the card.

4. Apply mascara as you normally would. Even if you go quickly, the lash card will catch the excess.

5. Repeat on your bottom lashes if you fly like that.

Messy-free mascara in 5 minutes, done.
